Thomas the Train!

So happy to be there

The girls had a great discussion about Thomas and his awesomeness

The wonderful Mr. Bill

All Aboard!

Ella just can't wait for Thomas to start chugging down the track

 Shepherd looks pretty happy too

Skyler loves to see everything passing by

At the end, they got to meet Sir Topham Hatt

and jump a little

go inside the petting zoo

and play a round of golf

We headed to the train station for our next ride.
We got to go through a long tunnel

and watch them spin the engine on a train table

I think the girls had the most wonderful day learning the joy of riding a train

And we all did too!

Many, many thanks to Monty for our fun filled day! We love you!

one improvement leads to another

Hubs and my awesome father- in-law brought home this beauty

to replace this old gal

Not too bad for a mere $50 plus hubs generosity of ten bucks to the really nice lady (good job and great heart Hubs)
You know how one improvement leads to another - well now would be a great time to finally fix the countertops too.
Yeah, I wasn't kidding when I said we have some improvements to do around here.
Don't worry Hubs I am a thrifty girl and we can get this done without much pain to the old wallet.
Stay tuned for how this all comes together...

oh I almost forgot - I am really diggin the Sailcloth wall color in the laundry room

a new project

I got a wild hair today and started a new project. I really dislike a lot of things about our house. I complain more often than I should (really get on Hubs nerves). When we first moved in, we (or rather I) had lots of plans for improvement. It didn't happen the way I planned, but what usually does. This is our laundry room/ back entrance. The door that most visitors come through and the first thing you see.

I didn't paint this. It was already there for us. I have wanted to repaint this for a LONG time. Walls don't paint themselves, so I picked up a brush and got started.
I have decided to paint it Sailcloth (BM) to embrace the beach house white. If it suits me, there may be more rooms to change. One coat this evening and many more to go.

mocha

I have a chocolate addiction... and I just may have a coffee addiction too. What better to solve this problem than a mocha. I don't get away from the house very often, so my Starbucks are few and far between. I found a pretty good alternative. It had to be really fast and super easy to make the cut around here.
Step 1: heat a mug of water in the microwave
Step 2: toss some instant brew in you mug (don't cringe it is better than you think)
Step 3: a good squeeze (or maybe 2) of chocolate syrup
Step 4: a spoon of dry milk ( all the creamy without the cool down)

Gotta be the queen of something

I am officially the queen of unfinished projects.  Just ask anyone who has been to our home.  First you see the yard with several unmulched flower beds and the grass that desperately needs a cut. My sweet girl tells me my "yellow flowers are beautiful Mommy"...
but Mommy knows she did not plant these beauties - they are weeds! lol

The porch painting project that I can't find the free time to finish.
The new front door painted, but still unhung.
The hundred yoyos I have waiting to become a quilt.
The list goes on...

Today I can take one thing off the list. My sweet boy has a new chalkboard (Toy Story style) for his room.
I am thrilled to have one on the completed side of my list. Shepherd looks pretty happy too!
